I can still hear the words of Ronald Reagan vividly as when he spoke them in 1987, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!". President Reagan was speaking of more than freeing the people of Berlin and Eastern Europe. The President made it clear that the world sees the failure of socialist policy as the core of government planning.
Before the total collapse of the United States, like the Soviet Union before her, it is time the whole of the American people declare that their legislature should make no law respecting the establishment of socialist programs, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus build a wall of separation between governance and social welfare.
Congress may have no power over social welfare, but the people do retain their power over social welfare. Each person may choose to donate labor or monetarily to social programs and public exercise their desires to be charitable toward their neighbors. Social welfare is best developed when it is an act of free will and not plotted by a few, ran by the corrupt, and funded by the unknowing or unwilling. Let us build a wall between social welfare and sate as an act of free will. We need to let the government handled things which we consider to be specifically political and let others handled issues we take to be specifically social.
The central government cannot be the creator of the wall of separation between social and political in a free republic; only the people may do this. There is another reason why the government cannot build the wall. The government cannot decide what is political and what should be included as social welfare because these are matters of opinion that vary from person to person. These are issues between each individual and their conscious. In a free republic, the central government has no right to inform matters of personal opinion on its citizens.
We, the people, need to build this wall of separation and force our government out of our right to choose individually the level of charity and morality we find in our soul.
